The collection of portraits for the PEACE WOMEN GALLERY which was displayed at the Boston Social Forum in July, 2004 was a lovely tribute to women both better known and not so well known. This was inspired by the world wide project to suggest the names of 1000 women of peace for the Nobel Peace Prize. See the list of Peace Women!

WILPF has been a long time supporter of CEDAW at every level of its organization. Along with other women's and human rights organizations, WILFP is actively engaged in several strategies designed to make CEDAW more meaningful to women around the world. Here at our Branch, we've already committed to lobbying Sen. Kerry to push for ratification in the Senate. We may be able to create the opportunity to take this initiative a step further and work to make Massachusetts an example of the progressive application of the CEDAW standard in the legal and economic context of the U.S.

90 YEARS

In 1915 the women who met at the Hague in protest of World War I created a vision of WILPF, and we in 2005 find ourselves in similar circumstances. WILPF continues the vision with cahpters all over the world, offices at the UN, in Washington DC and Philadelphia. The National Development Committee is asking for your help to make this 90th year of the oldest continuously operating peace group in the USA, a banner year for fundraising. We've set the goal to raise $900,000.
